A - Z is a notebook I started about cooking many years ago.  I'm turning it into a page just for pictures, articles and miscellaneous ramblings about food in alphabetical order.
A is for:
B is for:

Bread                                     My first bread pudding
                                                   Easter 2016
C is for:

California - I wrote about my trips to California here!

Cheesecake Factory! - A shopping trip would not be complete in any major city without a visit to one of these!

Chocolate pie - Mrs. Robertson in Sledge, MS made the best chocolate pies that my dad would buy for my mom for their anniversary.  A close runner-up is the chocolate chess pie at Ajax in Oxford, Mississippi and the chocolate pie in the bakery at Whole Foods.

Coffee shops - My favorite coffee shops of all time.  That is a pleasant topic to think about!  The first coffee shop I felt a true attachment for was Java Cabana in the Cooper-Young neighborhood of Memphis. I was an emcee at Poetry Night in college and when I found out there were poetry readings there in the late 90's I started attending them.  The coffee drinks are all delicious and Mary Burns the owner puts her whole heart into the atmosphere of the place.  My favorite drink is the Lisa Marie with coffee, cocoa and raspberry syrup.  My second favorite drink is the Mystery Train with espresso, hazelnut and vanilla syrup and whipped cream.  The vibe in this coffee shop is the laid back, cool Memphis vibe that made me fall in love with the city as a teenager.

Charleston, South Carolina - a place I love to visit now that my friend Stephanie lives there. What a great Southern city. You can read my thoughts about it here!

Christmas!  I wrote about recent Christmases HERE!
D is for:

Denver, Colorado - You can read about my foodie trips to Denver here!

E is for:

Escargot!  Every year I give my students a snail shell at the end of French 1.  It is a symbol of Paris but also a reminder I press on them to travel abroad. Learn by observing other cultures.
F is for:

Food Seen - my favorite food podcasts!
G is for:
H is for:

Heritage Radio - I'm so in love with these food podcasts that I find myself listening to them all the time, even 5-minute car rides. I especially love The Food Seen
I is for:

Iced Tea - the tea at McAlister's Deli is the best.  It comes in a giant plastic cup with a huge lemon quarter.  I order it half-sweet/half-unsweet.

J is for:
Japan - I read this article in Saveur The Okinawa Lessons.
Jellies - I just listened to a podcast about Bompas and Parr who specialize in British jello molds and other cerebral foodie adventures like Scratch and Sniff.
Justine's - an original restaurant in Memphis, TN.  How I regret that I never ate there!  Here's a nice article about it and information about the history of Justine's.
K is for:
L is for:

The Lake District - I read this article in Saveur: A Walk in Wordsworth Country
M is for:

Macarons - pistachio, coffee flavor, vanilla flavor.  The macaron-ization of America has been going on since 2009 and I'm happy to be able to find them at Wal-Mart and Trader Joe's now.

Magazines about food - Here's a nice list I found in Bon Appetit's article Read 'Em and Eat - Brutal Magazine, Lucky Peach, Cherry Bombe, The Gourmand, Fool, Gather.

O is for:
P is for:

Penzey's Spices!  I love this spice shop and when we lived in Memphis I shopped there all the time.  I have a happy memory of buying gift boxes for each member of our wedding party as a thank-you gift.

Pizza - the deep dish pepperoni pizza at Giordano's in Chicago, the House Special at The Mellow Mushroom, and the buffalo chicken pizza at Memphis Pizza Cafe

Pancakes - My favorite pancakes are at Snooze restaurant in Denver, Colorado.  The drunkin' punkin' pancakes with cream cheese in the center (like a toad in the hole) are the most delicious expression of "pumpkin-ness" I've ever tasted.  My second favorite pancakes are the cornmeal pancakes at The Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  They are crumbly, mushy, delicious.  They are heavenly with maple syrup.

Pupusas - I tried my first pupusa in Garden City, Kansas and I loved it! Then Paul and I had some fancy ones in Santa Fe at Café Pasqual's and went crazy for them.  We came home to Dodge City and tried the pupusa food truck Pupuseria Marisol and we're crazy about ALL the food we tried.
